'Fortunately this massive breed has an extremely benevolent temperament and a steady, calm nature. Walks are usually taken at a leisurely pace, but a St Bernard can pull extremely hard - so needs to be trained and under control. Around the house they are inclined to drool and are not one of those large breeds that can curl up in surprisingly small spaces - so an owner tends to fit around whatever space is left!.'
